T.Rex is highly underrated band. Marc Bolan was an insanely genius man, incredibly nice and personable to his fans and he could rock your freakin' socks off or send you into delirium when you listen 'Elemental Child' on your headphones in a dark room. His 'ex-wife' whom he never divorced officially because they were still best friends has nothing but good things to say about him. His partner, Gloria Jones gave birth to his son Roland Bolan and they say he was a very involved family man. Bolan never learned to drive because he was afraid of dieing in a car crash. His songs frequently included allusions to cars and it's eerie because he did die in a car crash of which he was a passenger. Had he been driving he would have survived.

Look at Steve Currie (bassist) and Mickey Finn from 1:52 to 2:23. They're pretty certain he's gonna pass out at any minute. When Bolan went for something, he went all out. He was probably on a cocktail of hallucinagins, opiates and god knows what else. However, put as guitar in his hands and he can still play, stay in tune, and stay on beat. Who knows what language most of the lyrics are in, but he gets the chorus right. After this performance, he cleaned himself up and lost the weight that was pressing his heart. He played guitar for Ringo Starr's solo album, Ike and Tina Turner used him on their tracks and it was Marc, not Ike who brought the funk in the guitar riff on 'Nutbush City Limits'. Why oh why did the universe see fit to lose him when he got himself clean for his family? Look at what he came out of in the video. Usually when you see this sort of performance it's followed by the announcement "...and the rock star was found dead in his home on his bathroom floor, alone in a puddle of his own vomit." His son Roland has his own music career and his voice is a deeper version of his father's that turns 'Cosmic Dancer' into a haunting song. The song was written with his son in mind, I'm sure. Roland nails it. Roland is good, but he isn't his father and he shouldn't be. When Marc died, Gloria was in the hospital with a broken arm and jaw and did not learn of his death until the day of his funeral. 'Fans' looted their home. Roland has not gotten his birthright because Marc's money is held in trust indefinitely because he had not planned on dieing so young. Gloria and Roland can't touch it. June Child, his ex-wife can't touch it and neither can his family. The record companies can't either so it continues to grow, but no one can benefit from it. I genuinely feel there should be a movement to get Marc Bolan's money out of trust and split amongst the loved ones he left behind.
